Alert Issued For Missing Long Island Man

An alert has been issued by police on Long Island as they seek the public’s assistance in locating a 66-year-old man who has been reported missing from a group home.

According to Nassau County Police detectives, Niel Newman, age 66, was last seen leaving the Rosewood Residential Group Home on Bayville Avenue in Bayville at 6:10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 28 on a surveillance camera.

Police said that Newman was reported missing later that day and has been described as being 5-foot-10, weighing approximately 135 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes. 

The last time he was seen, Newman was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, grey sweatpants, and white sneakers.

It is unclear where Newman’s destination was.

Anyone with information regarding Newman’s whereabouts has been asked to contact the Nassau County Police Department’s Missing Person’s Squad by calling (516) 573-7347 or 911.
